6 Questions You Should Be Asking Your Photographer

  1. How long have you been a photographer? The longer a photographer has been in business, the more likely it is that it’s not just a hobby for them.
  2. Which types of photography do you specialize in?  It’s uncommon for a photographer to specialize in several different types of photography as they often only specialize in one or sometimes two genres.  For example, a photographer who specializes in newborn photography might not be the best candidate to shoot wedding photos unless they have the experience in doing so.
  3. Do you have many repeat clients? This is a great litmus test of not only the quality of a photographer’s work but of their customer service too.
  4. What is your policy on rescheduling a session?  An experienced photographer will definitely have a policy in place when it comes to a customer canceling or rescheduling a photography session.  A photographer with policies indicates that they have experience with different types of customers and situations and have created policies accordingly.
  5. Have you had any experience with (name your specific concern)?  If you have any specific concerns regarding your photo session such as the photographer’s ability to work with a special needs child for example, find out if they have ever handled that type of situation before. Do not dismiss a photographer and their abilities based on their answers to your concerns. If given adequate notice, an experienced photographer should be able to deal with any situation you present them. This is the hallmark of a true pro.
  6. Silent Question: Use your gut to judge their personality and rapport. A photographer’s main job is to capture emotions and moments. If your photographer doesn’t mesh well with you on the phone or in person, chances are you and your family will not mesh well with them at your session and this will show in your photos.

Importance of a Professional Headshot for Business Owners

As an owner of a business, customers and clients often associate your business with your face. Therefore, it is highly important for you to have a superior-quality, professional headshot ready.

Here are 4 reasons why a professional headshot is the need of the hour for business owners like you:

1. Enhances your “About Us” page Since your “About Us” page draws maximum traffic, it is vital that you add professional headshots of yourself and your team. Customers and clients want to do business with a face and not the content about you. Moreover, a headshot makes your biography page look more professional.

2. Gives a personal touch to your business By having a professional headshot on your website, you add a personal touch to your business. Customers and clients want to see the “real you” to be able to trust you and make an informed decision about your business.

3. Adds life to your marketing collaterals Marketing your business is much more than drafting catchy taglines and logos. It’s all about the emotional connect you make with your customers and clients. By adding your headshot on your marketing material, you can become the face of your brand.

4. Keeps your identity uniform across the web You can use your professional headshot across the web to maintain uniformity in your identity. The same headshot can be used on your website, blog, social media pages, comments on other blogs and online directories.

4 Poses That Will Make You Look Slimmer in Photos

If you’re slightly on the bulkier side, we have put together a list of 4 poses to help you look slimmer in portraits. Check out these 4 simple secrets to look thinner and get the best out of you in every portrait shot.

1.   Avoid double chins

An amazing way to make your face look trimmer and get rid of the double chin is placing your tongue on the roof of your mouth while smiling. It’ll elongate your neck and help you get rid of the double chins. Even though it’ll feel a bit uncomfortable, stick your neck out like that of a turtle to get the perfect angle.

2.   Trim your waist

To make your waist look slim in portraits, turn your body by 45 degrees and place the hand that’s near the camera on your hip. Similarly, put the other hand on your hip. This will help you a great deal in trimming your waistline for the perfect shot.

3.   Get the perfect arm lift

Placing your arms by your side spreads them and makes them look fat simply because they do not make use of the muscles. Make good use of your shoulders to life your arm facing the camera and stretch it away from the body to get rid of the flat arm look.

4.   Shrink your hip

Any part of your body that is close to the camera will appear larger. Push your hip back to make it look smaller and leaner. Also, tilt your shoulders forward to make your upper body look thinner.

4 Poses That Will Make You Look Slimmer in Photos

All these tips can be used in a formal photoshoot as well as any quick snapshot or selfie! Hope these quick and easy tips help you in your next photos.
